As of January 2026, the Vatican’s highest appellate court has rejected a move by prosecutors to reopen the case against Cardinal Angelo Becciu, following his 2023 conviction for financial crimes, Crux and Catholic Culture reported. The appeal phase, which focuses on defense efforts to overturn the 5.5-year prison sentence for embezzlement and fraud, is scheduled to resume in February 2026

Vatican City high appeal court rejects prosecutor’s appeal in Becciu case

Vatican City’s highest appellate court has rejected an appeal from the city state’s chief prosecutor that sought to reopen the case against Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu and other defendants, even after the prosecution secured convictions against nine separate defendants on charges of various financial crimes, in a maxi-trial that concluded in 2023.
A laconic statement from the press office of the Holy See announced the developments on Monday.
The original case turned on a failed $400 million real estate deal in London, in which the Holy See’s Secretariat of State purchased a former Harrod’s warehouse in the Chelsea neighborhood with a view to turning the property into luxury apartments.
The Vatican eventually sold the property at a $163 million loss to extricate itself from the affair.
At the time the ill-fated deal was in the works, Becciu was serving as the sostituto

Angel Image with Meloni’s Face – Diocese of Rome to Review Church

One of the angels flanking the tomb of Italy’s last king, Umberto II, in the San Lorenzo in Lucina basilica in Rome appears to bear the face of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
According to LaRepubblica.it, the angel was originally painted with a generic face prior to recent restoration work.
The basilica is currently undergoing broader restoration work, and the Diocese of Rome says this was meant to proceed 'without changes or additions'. Therefore, the alteration of the angel’s face was attributed to the decorative restorer, who was a volunteer, and was not communicated to heritage authorities.
Bruno Valentinetti, the restorer, has denied intentionally depicting Meloni, claiming that he was merely replicating imagery from around 25 years ago, using traditional designs and colours.
The Diocese says it is investigating the matter further.
Prime Minister Meloni responded humorously on social media, writing that she “definitely doesn’t look like an angel”.

Bishop Strickland on liturgical reform : "when the sense of the sacred fades, belief weakens"

When Silence, Confusion, and the Loss of the Sacred Endanger Souls
My brothers and sisters in Christ,
There are moments in the life of the Church when a shepherd feels a weight that cannot be ignored. Not a political pressure. Not a media storm. But a quiet, insistent sense of responsibility before God. A sense that silence, however comfortable it might seem, is no longer faithful.
We are living in such a moment.
The Church is not abandoned. Christ remains her Head. He is present in the Eucharist. He is faithful to His promises. And yet, many of the faithful feel unsettled. They feel disoriented. They struggle to put words to it, but they sense that something precious has been weakened, something essential has been obscured.
They sense confusion – not just in the world, but within the Church herself. And confusion is never neutral.
In Sacred Scripture, the Lord speaks to the prophet Ezekiel and entrusts him with a grave responsibility. He calls him a watchman. A watchman is not asked …More

They say he was dangerous? As they bashed his head in with the canister after they ran out of spraying in the face. At 20 seconds into the video look closely at what those sick men were doing to him. Why is the spray yellow? What was in the spray?

One thing as a FAITHFUL CATHOLIC is that, I will never refrain from knowing that GOD in His predilection has chosen Russia to be His instrument in our times as is the Holy Will of GOD.
As a Catholic who loves TRUTH, to follow people today who choose to be blind and deaf about Russia, it reminds one that the followers of the "leaders" and their accomplices of the c-ov-id scamdemic who inverted the TRUTH by gaslighting, fear mongering, and psychological mind-manipulation continue to be unable to break away from the matrix of the propaganda mongers who always deceive and invert the TRUTH.

On Wednesday, a Swiss court found left-wing politician Sanija Ameti guilty of sharing photos in 2024 of her shooting at pictures of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. The former Green Liberal Party (GLP) member was given a suspended fine totalling 3,500 Swiss francs for disturbing freedom of religion. While the judge acknowledged that her actions showed clear disregard for the Christian faith, the court ruled that Ameti had not intended to cause offence, citing emotional distress. Following the incident, Ameti apologised, deleted the post, resigned from the GLP and lost her job.

Good Riddance!

The Hardest Death: Yourself
The Gospel reading today emphasizes the importance of being watchful for the Lord’s return, which will come unexpectedly. This unpredictability extends to the trials and tribulations we face in life, which are opportunities for spiritual growth and purification. By enduring these challenges with trust in God’s presence and protection, we can die to ourselves and live for Him, conforming our souls to Christ.

Saint Toma Khuong, also known as Saint Thomas Khuong or Tôma Khuông (full Vietnamese name often given as Thomas Ngô Túc Khuông or Thomas Khuông Tuc Ngo), was a Vietnamese priest and martyr born around 1780 in Tonkin (northern Vietnam), likely in the province of Hưng Yên. He came from a noble family, possibly the son of a mandarin, and was raised as a Christian from childhood in a time when the faith had taken root in Vietnam through missionary efforts but faced recurring hostility from imperial authorities. Khuong became a diocesan priest serving in the apostolic vicariate of Central Tonkin. He was also affiliated with the Dominican order as a tertiary (a lay member of the Dominican Third Order or confraternity for priests), reflecting his deep commitment to prayer, study, and pastoral work. Known for his piety, intellectual gifts dedicated to exploring faith through reason, and dedication to his flock, he ministered discreetly amid periodic anti-Christian persecutions under emperors …More
