On 17 May, the German bishops published a 308-page document on younger priests.
The study surveyed 847 clerics who were ordained between 2010 and 2021 and 1,668 men who left the seminary. 153 priests and 18 former candidates responded. The average age of the priests was 37. Over 97% were born and raised in Germany. Just over half have two or more siblings.
The results showed that 75.7% of the priests believed that [real] reform would be achieved by a greater focus on the liturgy and the content of the Catholic faith. A small minority of priests (4.6%) said that 'no reform' was needed.
Only 25.7% of priests still believe that women should be invalidly ordained to the priesthood, and only 29.6% support betraying Christ's demand for celibacy.

Francis told Norah O'Donnell (60 Minutes) in the 20 May interview that there will be no deaconesses.
He added: "If they are deacons with holy orders, no."
And: "Women have always had, I would say, the function of deaconesses without being deacons, right? Women are of great service as women, not as clergy".
In other words, there will be "deaconesses" in a "different sense" to create more confusion, as has already happened with Amoris Laetitia and the homosexual [pseudo] blessings.

After a visit to Gaza from 15-19 May, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, issued a statement on Lpj.org saying that he was "among my people who are currently suffering much from the war and the destruction it has left behind".
Despite this, he saw "hope and optimism" in the eyes of the people who had been living under heavy bombardment for months. They told the Cardinal: "We will stay here. As long as the Church is with us, we are not afraid". Pizzaballa was impressed by this attitude.
He visited the conditions of the Catholic community in Gaza: "The level of destruction I have seen is unbelievable, and the poor living conditions, such as the lack of water and electricity and the lack of security, are terrible."

In another excerpt of his 19 May interview with Norah O’Donnell (“60 Minutes”), Francis who doesn't trust anybody claimed that “people are fundamentally good”.
Contradicting Christ (Mk 10:18 "No one is good except God alone") and reality, Francis blabbered: "We are all fundamentally good. Yes, there are some villains and sinners, but the heart itself is good.”
With the same incompetence, Francis then spoke about surrogate motherhood, saying that it is not authorised “in the strict sense of term” [= allowed].
Trying to dodge the problem, he then said: "Sometimes surrogacy has become a business, and that is very bad. It is very bad.” But O’Donnell insisted that surrogacy is sometimes “the only hope”. Damian Thompson presented an interesting view of Francis in a long article on UnHerd.com (27 April).
He refers to a "Vatican source" who he describes as having watched Francis closely for a decade, who doesn't belong to any faction, and tends to have a conspicuously gentle view of people. Nevertheless, this source describes Francis as "a nasty man".
"He is one of the most complicated men I have ever met," says the source. "He can be terrific fun and also incredibly vengeful. If somebody crosses him, he'll kick them when they are at their lowest ebb."
"But don't get the idea that he's a master strategist. He's a clumsy tactician who spends his time lighting fires and putting them out. His number one priority, above all else, is to be inscrutable. Those who want to steal the soul of Europe and make it a victim of their post-humanist atheism are pushing for its de-Christianisation, said Cardinal Gerhard Müller in his homily at the closing Mass on 20 May of the legendary Roman Rite pilgrimage from Paris to Chartres.
The cardinal hopes that Catholics [but not the Vatican] will be "immune to the propaganda and opium of substitute political religions" and declares that "self-destruction through suicide and euthanasia, drugs and alcohol, or the rejection of our male or female sexuality are not options for Christians".

We live in very troubling times that sometimes seem apocalyptic, Cardinal Burke said in a May 18 address to the graduating class of 2024 at Thomas Aquinas College in Massachusetts.
The rebellion against God, the revolution against His truth and love handed down to us in the Church, has reached unimaginable levels, the prelate explained.
The current rebellion is not only against faith, but also against reason: "We are witnessing in the world the denial of our very nature as God created us".

"God is one," Francis preached during his visit to the prison of Verona on 18 May: "Our cultures have taught us to call him by one name, by another name, and to find him in different ways, but he is the same Father for all of us. He is one".
Francis is wrong. It was not the "cultures" that revealed God's name, but God himself through his revelation to Moses (Ex 3) and more fully in his Son, Jesus Christ.
The theory of "finding God in different ways" contradicts what Jesus Christ says: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (Jn 14:6).
Francis also proclaimed the following banality: "All religions, all cultures, look at the one God in different ways." But what matters is not different ways but the right way.

Nearly 20,000 pilgrims attended Holy Mass on Pentecost during the legendary pilgrimage of the Roman Rite from Paris to Chartres.
This is a record number. The pilgrimage is taking place for the 42nd time. Despite or because of Francis' "Traditionis Custodes", it attracts masses of young Catholics, with an average age of around 21.
The French authorities support the pilgrimage, including with mounted police. C-News, a French television channel, ran several reports on the pilgrims, including a live broadcast of the mass.
Notre-Dame de Chrétienté, the organiser, writes that these broadcasts have reached hundreds of thousands of French people. The Bishop of Nanterre, Mgr. Matthieu Rougé, welcomed the pilgrims and accompanied them as they passed through his diocese.

A televised statement by the Poor Clares of Belorado, who have joined a sedevacantist sect, has left the Archbishop of Burgos, Mario Iceta, emotionally challenged ("very painful"), writes ReligionDigital.org (16 May).
The nuns have declared that Francis is "a heretic and usurper" and that there has not been a valid Pope since Pius XII.

On 28 April, in the parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, known as the Sanctuary of Santa Terezinha, in Taubaté, São Paulo, Brazil, a priest disrespected a faithful and refused him Communion (video below).
The communicant was kneeling. Rev. Silvio José Dias tried to force the faithful to receive the Communion with his hands, but the layman refused to touch the Body of Christ [Noli me tangere" / "Do not touch me" Jn 20:17].
As a result, the disrespectful priest denied him Communion and turned around.
The Archdiocese of São Paulo told Metropoles.com (16 May) that a member of the faithful who is in a state of grace has a "right" to receive Communion.
"In situations where there is a risk of the Eucharist falling or being desecrated, such as in large crowds, it is recommended that Communion not be distributed in the hand".

In a meeting with 800 priests and religious in the Basilica of San Zeno during his visit to Verona on 18 May, Francis once again promoted formalism by calling for cheap absolution after an empty confession.
He overlooked the fact that confession has virtually died out after Vatican II precisely because of such formalism.
"Confession should not be a torture," he said, as if anyone had ever claimed it was. Then Francis, who is known to be vindictive and unforgiving, added: "Please forgive everything" and "forgive without making them suffer" - something Francis himself has never done since he has been running the Vatican.

Married Spanish Ex-Bishop Xavier Novell "is not so orthodox or conservative" as he seemed, his wife Silvia Caballol told Antena3.com.
She is an author of pornographic literature. “It's one thing to preach and quite another to live it”, she explained.
According to her, Novell is not against homosexual sins and both have "many" homosexual and transvestite friends. Caballol believes that the Church has made "a lot of progress" [= regress] on these issues, "because now they give their [pseudo] blessing," Caballol says.

Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich believes that Francis will not introduce [invalidly] ordained priestesses.
Simultaneously, he referred to one of the Dubia of five cardinals which asked about John Paul II’s teaching in Ordinatio Sacerdotalis that women cannot be priests. According to Jean-Claude Hollerich, “Francis responded very wisely: It is binding, but not forever” (Kath.ch, 17 May).
In other words: Ordinatio Sacerdotalis means nothing and can be changed at any time. Hollerich confirms this interpretation: “It is not an infallible doctrinal decision. It can be changed. It needs arguments and time.”
John Paul II defines in Ordinatio Sacerdotalis that “the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women.” What was true then, must also be true now. Francis' dishonesty is even more dislikable than his being unbelieving, rude, ambiguous, divisive, tyrannical, and hypocritical, etc. He knows full well that the text of 'Fiducia Supplicans' is not about blessing a single person, but about 'blessing irregular couples [= unrepentant mortal sinners]'. Couples are defined by their union.

On 17 May, Tucho Fernández published guidelines on alleged supernatural phenomena entitled "Norms for proceeding in the discernment of alleged supernatural phenomena."
The main change: Neither the local bishop nor the Vatican will declare that phenomena are of supernatural origin, but the Vatican can authorise the local bishop to declare that a phenomenon is "not supernatural".
There is no provision in these norms for ecclesiastical superiors to give positive recognition to the divine origin of alleged supernatural phenomena, the regulations state.
The second major change is the centralisation of the process, since Francis is the pope of Roman centralism. The local bishop's decisions must be given approval by the Vatican.

Norah O'Donell of CBS News asked Francis during an interview that will be published in full next Sunday: "There are conservative bishops in the United States who oppose your new efforts to revisit teachings and traditions. How do you respond to their criticism?"
Francis: "They use this adjective 'conservative' [belittling smile]. A conservative is someone who clings to something and does not want to see beyond it. It is a suicidal attitude. Because it is one thing to consider tradition, to consider situations from the past. It is quite another to be locked up in a dogmatic box."
No Pope has lived so much in a "dogmatic box" as Francis, who runs after every ideology of the bygone 1960s, and indeed: this conservatism is suicidal for the Church and its disastrous results are visible to everybody.

A total of 49 Vatican employees are threatening to file a complaint over poor working conditions that "do not respect the basic principles of dignity".
The group includes 47 museum guards, a restorer and a bookshop worker. According to Italian media, they intend to take the Governatorato, the Vatican administration headed by Cardinal Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, a Spanish Legionary of Christ, to court if they do not receive a satisfactory response to their demands.
In a letter to Vérgez Alzaga, they say that the working conditions in the Vatican Museums are detrimental to the dignity and health of the workers.
They complain that they have been unfairly paid for overtime, that they have not received promotions and that they have to pay back part of the salary they received without working because of the closures during the Covid hysteria. Other Vatican workers may be ready to join the complaints.

A 15 May synod report of the bishops of Austria strongly supports "sacramental deaconesses", which cannot exist.
The Austrian bishops claim to have had "good experiences" with women in leadership positions, although everyone knows that envy, pressure, paternalism, careerism, etc. are rampant.
For the bishops these "leadership positions" are still only "a partial answer". They speak of a "women's problem" ("enormous loss of credibility", "massive threat to the mission of the Church") and claim that it would be satisfactorily solved by the [invalid] "sacramental deaconess".
"While the priesthood of women is sporadically mentioned, there is a strong voice, supported by majorities in the dioceses (including the diocesan leadership, Linz deacons), in favour of admitting women to the diaconate".
